What is the pink flower? It looks like a rose, but it is something else

Your bouquet contains a pale pink flower with thin, wavy petals and long, slender buds. That combination explains why it is often mistaken for a rose.

The pink flower is lisianthus, botanically Eustoma. In your photograph, its soft, slightly papery petals, cup-shaped flower and slender stems with pointed buds are the recognisable features.

It is a very common cut flower in bouquets because of its romantic appearance and good vase life. It is often confused with a rose or sometimes a peony, but lisianthus has a lighter, more folded appearance than a rose’s denser bloom.
