The garden is still giving, but the seed heads reveal the season

Fresh pink and purple flowers mingle with dry seed heads in this bouquet from Hartungviken. That combination says a lot about what is worth picking now and what is better left standing.

The curled, ridged pieces in the photograph do not look much like ordinary seeds from an outdoor plant. The key distinction is between the seeds themselves and what contained them.
